How Platform Connections Work
OAuth Authentication
All platform connections use OAuth 2.0 for secure authentication:
- You Request Connection: Click "Connect" for a platform
- Redirect to Platform: You're sent to the platform's login page
- Grant Permissions: Authorize the platform to access your account
- Return with Token: The platform gives us a secure token
- Connection Complete: Your account is now connected
Why is this secure?
- We never see your password
- You control which permissions to grant
- You can revoke access anytime from the platform's settings
- Tokens expire and refresh automatically
What Are Permissions?
Each platform requires specific permissions (also called "scopes") to function:
Example - Meta Permissions:
pages_show_list: See your Facebook Pagespages_manage_posts: Create posts on your Pagesinstagram_basic: Access Instagram account infoinstagram_content_publish: Post to Instagramread_insights: View analytics data
Why do we need these?
- Each permission enables specific features
- We only request what's necessary
- Platforms require explicit permission for each action
- You can review permissions before connecting
Token Management
Access Tokens:
- Short-lived credentials (hours to days)
- Used for API requests
- Automatically refreshed
Refresh Tokens:
- Long-lived credentials (months)
- Used to get new access tokens
- Stored securely and encrypted
What happens if a token expires?
- The platform will show a "Reconnect" button
- Click to re-authenticate
- Your content and history remain intact

- TikTok: Settings → Manage Account → Switch to Business Account
2. Verify Account Ownership
Make sure you have proper access:
- Facebook: Admin or Editor role on Pages
- Google Business: Owner or Manager role
- TikTok: Account owner or authorized user
3. Check Platform Compliance
Ensure your accounts comply with platform policies:
- No policy violations or warnings
- Account in good standing
- No active restrictions
4. Prepare Business Information
Have ready:
- Business name and description
- Logo and cover images
- Contact information
- Business hours and location

Reconnect an Account
If a connection expires or breaks:
- You'll see a Reconnect button

- Grant permissions again
- Connection restored with full history
Switch Between Accounts
If you have multiple accounts of the same type:
- Connect all accounts separately

Solutions:
- Check your internet connection
- Try a different browser

Permissions Denied
Symptoms: "Missing permissions" error
Solutions:
